Evolution — Review

Genre: strategy

Speedrunning through the ages I dove into "Evolution" expecting a typical IO game, but what I got was a clever take on resource management and unit production. The core loop revolves around gathering resources, building and upgrading units, and defending against AI-controlled opponents. What makes it fun to repeat is the constant need to adapt to new situations and optimize your strategy on the fly. You'll need to balance resource gathering with unit production, all while keeping an eye on your opponent's moves. The controls are responsive and intuitive, with keyboard and touch controls working seamlessly. To get the most out of your runs, focus on efficient unit production and resource gathering. Don't be afraid to experiment with different unit upgrades and strategies to find what works best for you. As you progress, you'll face increasingly difficult opponents and new challenges to overcome. Scoring ideas include completing levels quickly, defeating opponents with minimal resources, and achieving specific unit production milestones. I found myself improving my resource gathering efficiency and unit production speed with each run. To speedrun "Evolution" effectively, focus on quick resets and optimal route planning. Since the game runs in an iframe, playing in full screen mode helps readability and reduces distractions. With practice and patience, you can shave precious seconds off your run times and become a true "Evolution" master.
